Product Details

EL7423 - An unusual British light cavalry officer's sword, featuring a 1788 pattern light cavalry officer's blade, with an updated 1796 pattern hilt. Presumably this was for an officer who was already in the light cavalry before 1796, who updated their hilt after the new regulation sword was introduced. The blade is 32.5 inches long and from the style and nature of the engraved talismanic motifs on the blade is almost certainly German made. The hilt is of good quality, with a detailed ferrule and fluted back piece, which are secure on the tang with no notable movement. Condition overall is average, with a good hilt, but some areas of pitting to the blade. No scabbard.
