Product Details

EL7344 - A British 1796 pattern Heavy Cavalry officer's dress sword by Runkel. Runkel obtained his swords from Solingen, but was one of the biggest sword suppliers in England. The heavy cavalry dress sword was also worn when officers were serving dismounted, and probably as a dueling sword, and this example seems to have been service sharpened, as have many I have seen. The 32.5 inch blade is in generally good condition with crisp engraving, showing various motifs including the British arms, and it is firm in the hilt. There are a few spots of pitting in the foible. The hilt is in very good to excellent condition, with much gilt remaining to the bronze and very secure and good condition grip wire. No scabbard.
