Product Details
EL6856 - A good Yeomanry Cavalry sabre, 1821 pattern, circa 1830-1850. Deeply etched with SYC (Surrey? Shropshire?) and the rack or trooper number 218 to the base of the blade. The scabbard features an unusual leather covering over the iron. The hilt with some pitting, but the leather covering of the grip in good condition for the age. No other markings showing the maker, or military (as these were privately purchased by colonels for their yeomanry regiments). The hilt completely rock solid on the tang, no movement, and the leather washer intact. This is a lovely example of the pattern, with the big 35 inch blade.
