Product Details
EL7243 - A good Crimean War/Indian Mutiny era 1853 pattern cavalry troopers' sword by Reeves. Featuring a bright 35 inch blade in very good condition, except for one notable nick to the cutting edge (pictured). The blade of course firm in the hilt, being a Reeves Patent Solid Hilt tang. The leather grips in very good condition, with distinct checkering, firmly attached by the rivets through the full width tang. The guard in good shape, though with some corrosion which could be cleaned up somewhat. Birmingham proof house stamps to the blade, showing that this was accepted into service by the regular Army. The scabbard is very pitted in places, but is structurally sound and is the correct scabbard for the sword, which sheathes well in it.
