EL7263 - An 1853 pattern cavalry sword, marked to the 7th Dragoon Guards. Above the 7DG marking on the guard is the number 1880, which might be the date, though given that the number 493 is underneath, this number might be related to regimental armoury storage. Note that the scabbard is marked to the 20th Hussars, so although of the correct pattern, is a later marriage. The blade clean and bright, firm in the hilt of course, having a patent solid tang. The hilt with dark patina, but the leather grips in quite good condition with prominent checkering and firmly attached to the tang with no movement.
