EL7211 - An 1890 pattern cavalry sword. With numerous stamps, showing that this was made in 1890 and approved for service in Birmingham, then re-issued in 1895. The blade is nice and clean, with a bright finish. The hilt and scabbard have been painted and this should be removed, and there is a red cloth liner added to the guard, which I imagine was for theatrical purposes. A restoration project therefore! However it is complete and solid, with a good blade.
