Product Details

EL6145 - A Rusty late-Victorian Wilkinson Royal Artillery officer's sword, numbered for 1894 (un-researched). This is, or was, a great sword. A big 35 inch blade and very robust overall, Wilkinson quality. It even comes with both its original scabbards - the steel dress scabbard and leather field service scabbard. However, it has lots of cosmetic issues and hence being placed in the restoration section, with appropriate price. This would be a very worthwhile project however - the blade is very clean in parts, with only localised areas of rust to clean. The blade is straight and solid in the hilt. The hilt is all solid and complete, with almost all of the shagreen and what looks like all of the grip wire remaining. Just dirty and in need of cleaning. The guard and backstrap are rusty, but should clean up well. The field service scabbard has a blockage inside, meaning the blade only goes down to the most rusted portion shown on the blade - however the steel scabbard allows the blade down all the way (though the steel scabbard is very rusty on the outside). A real project sword, but with lots of potential, priced according to condition and work required.
