ELC1016 - An 18th century French silver-hilted smallsword with 32 inch blade. The hilt in French (Paris import) hallmarked silver is decorated overall with facets and dots. The import mark stamped on the lower end of the grip is of a bird head, which seems to correspond to a date between 1781 and 1789. The triangular section blade tapers to a sharp point (slightly bent) and is in overall good condition. Interestingly the triangular-section is set the opposite way to normal. The grip is a little loose, though the hilt as a whole is secure on the tang. This is a really nimble and nice-handling piece.
