EL7205 - A very good 1821 pattern light cavalry troopers' sword by Deakin (scabbard by J Reddell). A well made example of the pattern (they vary a lot due to the variety of makers producing these), with the troop and trooper number to the Reddell scabbard. The hilt is solid on the tang with no movement at all, the leather on the grip about 50% remaining and worn through on the raised surfaces from use, resulting in a smooth finish with no flaking. The blade is one of the best blades I have ever seen on one of these 1821 patterns, being bright and clean, with good preservation of the tip. The bars of the hilt are in good shape with no notable bends, and I think their form would suggest an earlier date for this sword in the range of the pattern (1821-1853).
