Product Details

ELC1009 - A high quality 4th Middlesex West London Rifle Volunteers officer's sword, by Robert Mole & Sons. Having the 1892 thrusting blade, with 1895 fully-chequered backstrap and the VR monogram, this sword must date to 1895-1901. Mole were a top maker, in fact the main supplier of government swords and bayonets at this time. This is one of their more scarce private-purchase officer's swords. The blade has some staining, but is generally very bright with clear and extra-detailed etching. The hilt is in cast white metal rather than the usual sheet steel, with the shagreen and grip wire in good condition. Everything is tight. Complete with matching period scabbard and sword knot.
