Product Details

EL7087 - An unusual late-Victorian Royal Navy officer's sword with a broader blade than standard, retailed by Seagrove of Portsmouth and made by Pillin. The blade is numbered, which I believe dates this to the 1890s. As well as the unusually broad blade, this sword also features a checkered back piece, which is fairly unusual on a naval sword, and putting the two unusual features together, this officer presumably expected to come to close quarters! Good condition overall, with light patina, everything firm and without movement. Complete with original sword knot and matching scabbard (the chape loose).
