Chinese (?) Officer's Sword - Probably German-Made

EL6118 - This is a bit of a mystery - there are no maker's marks or other markings, except for the Chinese style dragon in the steel guard, which is nicely rendered.

The sword is not in very good condition, but it is all solid and the leather washer is still in place - it could potentially clean up quite nicely, though there is loss to the grip leather (see photos). My guess is that this is German-made, as it follows some German design characteristics of around the 1880s. It does seem pretty well made and in the late-19th century German makers were making specific models for Asian governments. Blade of just under 31 inches.
