EL7062 - An 1845 pattern infantry officer's sword retailed by Hill Brothers. The blade has been service sharpened and reduced in length by about 1 inch to 31 inches, in period. Having the folding drop guard, this sword dates to 1845 to circa 1860, and being service sharpened was presumably taken on campaign around that period. The proof disc has fallen out, so I cannot identify who made this, but the quality is good and the etching is crisp and deep, and the blade quite bright. The hilt is firm with no movement and the shagreen and wire grip is very good. Complete with original steel scabbard.
