Product Details

EL7152 - A good example of an early 1845 pattern infantry officer's sword, retailed by Meyers & Mortimer and probably made by Reeves, circa 1850. The blade with very light patina and good crisp etching, firm in the hilt. The blade was service sharpened. The hilt in very good condition, with remains of the gilding to the brass hilt, the folding drop section working well and holding tight in the open or closed position. The shagreen and grip wire in very good condition, though with the bottom strand of wire a bit loose. The patent leather hilt liner still in place (these were regulation, but are mostly missing from surviving swords), and with the earlier (1850s) style of brass and leather scabbard, also in good condition. Also with the original heavy gilt sword knot.
