Product Details

EL6934 - An early 1827 pattern Georgian Royal Navy officer's sword by Richard Rowley Adams. We only have dates for R. R. Adams trading in Devonport between 1824 and 1830, and given than this is an 1827 pattern sword, it should therefore date to 1827-1830, thus being an early example of the model. Featuring the quill-pointed pipe-backed blade, which is firm in the hilt, with gilt brass guard and ray skin grip. The grip wire is all intact and the folding drop section works well. There is some patina and a little bit of corrosion to the blade, which could probably be improved with careful restoration. The scabbard is complete, but with a repair to the leather, and the leather has shrunk with age, leaving it about 1cm too short for the blade (see photos), so the blade does not quite go all the way in. A good early example of the pattern, with potential to improve.
