Product Details

EL7425 - A scarce 1788 pattern light cavalry troopers' sword, by Woolley & Co of Birmingham (circa 1790-96). A good example, with double-fullered Monmorency style blade of 35.5 inches long, firm in the hilt with no movement and service sharpened. This would have been in service at the beginning of the Napoloenic Wars. There is some light pitting to areas of the blade, but it is in quite good condition for the age, and structurally sound. The hilt is in good shape, with flat projecting pommel plate and narrow knucklebow, all tight with no movement. The shagreen covered grip is particular good for the age, with no loss. On one of the langets is the name of the cavalry regiment or troop, which begins with the letter P, but the rest is now obscured. No scabbard.
