Product Details

EL7173 - An Edwardian Black Watch Highland officer's 'claymore', made by Pillin (and numbered for the early 1900s), and retailed by Johnstone of London. Featuring a 33 inch double-edged blade (not service sharpened), mounted in a large roomy basket hilt, with a notably longer grip than is normal. The hilt has the usual nut at the end of the tang, for switching to the cross-hilt if required (only the basket hilt present here). The blade is bright, with good etching, the guard retains its nickel plating (which could be polished brighter) and the grip and pommel are in good condition. The original scabbard is present, with a bit of loss to the nickel plating. Overall in very good solid condition, and could be refinished to modern parade standard quite easily.
