EL6989 - A Filipino panabas chopper, late-19th to early-20th century. Featuring a broad single-edged chopping blade, with decorative pierced-work on the back spine. The blade showing the layered traditional forging technique. The very tip has been chipped off and requires a little restoration. The blade is firm in the ribbed hardwood hilt, and the junction features a finely ribbed brass socket, reinforcing the junction between blade and hilt. Overall length 79cm.
