EL6978 - French M1822 light cavalry troopers' sabre, dated 1879, in scabbard. A good example, with a bright blade having very slight patina, and a well service-sharpened edge and point. The engraving on the spine is very crisp. The hilt in good condition generally, the leather of the grip a bit dry and half the grip wire gone, everything is firm with no movement. Please note that there is a dent in the scabbard, with a corresponding mark on the blade, which was obviously in the scabbard at the time of impact. This is visible on the blade, but the blade is basically straight still and I have included a photo looking along the spine to show this.
