Product Details
EL7152 - A good GRI British Raj 1896 pattern cavalry officer's sword. No maker or retailer, but probably German made from the style of the etching, this is etched with the GRI cypher, showing that it was purchased during the reign of George V by a British or Indian Indian Army cavalry officer. They could have purchased the new 1912 pattern, but like quite a lot of officers at this time must have preferred the 1845 type cut and thrust blade, or potentially this was sold between 1910-1912 before the new sword came about. The blade is bright with fine quality etching, and seems to have been service sharpened. Everything is film, with no movement. The field service scabbard has had a later copper chape added.
