Product Details

EL7091 - A very clean WW1 era 1897 pattern Infantry officer's sword by Wilkinson, made for Indian Army service. Marked with the ISD stamp (India Stores Depot) and lacking a proof number, this was made by government order, for issue to an officer (either British or Indian) based in India. It carries the Indian Army version of George V's cypher (GRI) to hilt and blade. The blade is in very good to excellent condition, firm in the hilt. The hilt is in similar condition, with only slight bubbling spots to the nickel plating of the steel hilt, with good shagreen and wire. Complete in original Wilkinson field service scabbard, with frog and belt straps, and original field service leather sword knot. This sword would make a good parade sword for a serving officer and is far better quality than any of the modern newly made versions.
