George V era 1897 Pattern Infantry Officer's Sword
EL7444 - A good condition George V 1897 pattern infantry officer's sword, in field service scabbard with original frog and slings attached. This sword was by repute (according to the family it came from) carried by a 'Brigadier General James Maudesley/Mawdesley/Mawdsley, MC (Military Cross)', but I have not been able find a suitable match for this identification and there are no markings on the sword or scabbard to confirm that attribution. The sword has no maker or retailer evident, but is of good quality. The blade is bright and in original polish, with crisp etching, and just a few small blemishes/stains in the polish. The hilt is in good condition, with good plating to the guard and back piece, firm on the tang with no movement, and the grip is in equally good condition. The original field service sword knot is in place still.
