Product Details

EL7006 - A very good East India Company infantry officer's sword by Welch of Leadenhall, London. From the maker and form of the hilt, I believe this to be from George IV's reign, so this is an early example of the 1822 pattern. Featuring the famous EIC lion to both the guard and etching on the blade. The 32.5 inch blade mostly bright, with some patina, and intricate floral etching. The blade has been cleanly service sharpened. The hilt in very good condition and shape, with good shagreen and wire, all secure on the tang with just a tiny bit of movement in the guard. The folding section works well. No scabbard.
