Product Details
EL7455 - An excellent early 1845 bladed light cavalry officer's sword by Mole of Birmingham, and retailed by Anderson & Schmidt (1850-1853). The retailer's etched name and address being up on the fuller instead of the ricasso is an early feature, and current research on this retailer dates the sword to 1850-53. Mole was one of the best makers of the day and the quality of this sword shows. The large 35.5 inch blade is imposing and has a great feel and very good quality crisp etching (equal in quality to Wilkinson), and it is absolutely firm in the hilt with no movement. The whole hilt in very good condition, bright and clean, with excellent shagreen and grip wire. Housed in the original steel scabbard, which fits like a glove.
