EL7330 - A late-Victorian cavalry sowar's sword, manufactured by Edward Thurkle for H. S. King, as etched in a plaque on the 31 inch curved sabre blade. A very clean and nice example, this model of sword (with no known pattern designation) was the standard regulation model for British Indian cavalry troopers and was in use between the 1860s and WW1. This example probably dates to the 1870s or 1880s and is unusual for having this degree of retailer/maker etching. In good condition, with a bright and clean blade, service sharpened, but having no scabbard.
