EL6992 - A big and heavy Nepalese ram dao sacrificial sword, circa 1900. This example measures 80cm overall and features the absolutely distinctive shape. These genuine old examples are fairly scarce and this came from an old collection. The single edged blade features a forwards-angled cutting edge, with thick back spine, having engraving, brass inlay and red painted highlights to some of the engraving. The grip is checkered wood and the pommel is a hollow brass orb (which has some movement). It has light pitting, more to one side than the other, but lots of the decoration, including the paint, remaining.
