Product Details

EL6142 - A mid-Victorian 1845 pattern infantry officer's sword with cosmetic issues. The main two issues with this sword is that it needs a good clean and the gilt brass guard has been a bit squashed/deformed. The guard has a little bit of movement, but the rest of the hilt seems firm on the tang. There is quite a bit of gilding remaining to the hilt, the shagreen and grip wire is all complete and the hilt even has the original leather liner and sword knot (the knot has a serious tear in it though). The blade is very nice, with good frost etching and the guard folding drop section works well. A nice sword, dating to 1845-1860, with a rather good blade and grip - well worth some effort to restore. No scabbard unfortunately.
