Product Details

EL6950 - An excellent WW1 dated Wilkinson Royal Navy Officer's sword, with optional solid fighting guard, named to T Clark R.N. I can see a reference to a Captain T Clark, Royal Navy, from 1919, which is likely the named officer, but I have not done more research than that. The Wilkinson record book has no name against this sword number (as with so many WW1 swords), but the officer's name is clearly engraved to the knucklebow luckily. The sword is in very good to excellent condition, with a robust blade retaining the original mirror polish and start frost etching. The hilt is what Wilkinson termed the solid guard (an expensive 'optional extra'), having no folding drop section, and in turn having a spring catch passing through a special hole in the guard instead of the normal lug on the scabbard chape to engage with the drop. The blade is firm in the hilt with no movement. The hilt is in excellent condition, with clean white shark skin grip and all the wire in place. One part of the original sword knot remains. The scabbard is in good condition, but with the surface of the patent black leather a bit patchy in places. A fantastic top end example of a WW1 Wilkinson Royal Navy sword, with lots of research potential.
