Product Details

EL7088 - An good Napoleonic British officer's 1796 pattern light cavalry sabre by Woolley & Deakin of Birmingham (c.1800-1803). The blade bright and repeatedly service sharpened for active service, exhibits a variety of decorative motifs engraved to both sides and picked out with selected gilding. The hilt quite plain and similar at first sight to a trooper's sabre, the grip with 90% of the leather remaining and the grip wire also present. The matching scabbard with patina and the lower ring and band has been lost. The hilt firm on the tang, but with a very tiny bit of movement in the guard. A good mid-status light cavalry officer's sword from relatively early in the Napoleonic Wars.
