Product Details

EL7284 - A good quality 1803 pattern infantry officer's sabre by Osborn. Presumably dates to before 1808, when Osborn merged to become Osborn and Gunby. The 30 inch blade quite broad and with a gentle curve, featuring a single wide fuller, with engraving and some gilt remaining to the recesses. The hilt of quite robust proportions, with quite a wide grip compared to most 1803 patterns, with good shagreen and grip wire. The hilt is somewhat loose on the tang, due to the loss of the leather washer, which could probably be mitigated with the addition of a new leather washer. Overall good condition, with a mostly clean and bright blade, but with a few small areas of pitting. No scabbard.
