EL7271 - A Napoleonic British non-regulation infantry officer's sabre, circa 1800. With a hilt inspired by the 1796 light cavalry sabre and a 29 inch blade of 'scimitar' form, being a flat wedge section with no fuller, having a narrow hatchet tip and false edge. The blade sharpened for service and firm in the hilt, with the leather washer intact and no movement. The shagreen in very good condition for the age. The blade quite clean, with a few spots of corrosion and the hilt with dark patina. No scabbard.
