Product Details

EL6983 - A George III/Regency 1796 pattern heavy cavalry officer's full dress sword. Although these are widely perceived as dress swords, because they were to be worn when dismounted, they are quite often service sharpened, as is this example. A double-edged 32.5 inch blade with narrow fuller in the forte, the hilt and blade are firm with no movement. The copper-bound grip in good condition. The bronze hilt with dark patina and longer than average quillons, projecting well beyond the double-shell guard. The blade uncleaned, but quite bright considering the lack of scabbard. The whole sword would benefit from careful cleaning, but a good solid example that handles well.
