ELC1012 - A rare opportunity to own two top quality and condition early/mid-20th century officer's swords, which belonged to two brothers in the British Army, one being a Parachute Regiment Military Cross Winner.

The first sword, which belonged to Major, M.C., 'A' Company, 9th Parachute Regt., is an 1897 pattern infantry officer's sword by Wilkinson, with the 'best quality' hexagonal proof slug and dating to 1936. 32.5-inch blade, marked with GvR cypher and owner's name etched "A.J. Maule Parry" in scroll. Nickel-plated hilt with GvR cypher, black fishskin grip with brass bind wires, brown leather sword knot. Together with both original scabbards, the brown leather undress scabbard with nickel-plated throat and plated-steel dress scabbard with twin suspension rings (the steel scabbard rather tight). Condition overall is excellent. Also with brown leather sword bag marked "A J M P" with chamois inner liner (blue draw-string).

A Company, 9th Parachute Regt, 1944:

The second sword (retailed by Flights) is the Royal Army Service Corps sword of Colonel Roden Keble Maule Parry, M.B.E. M.A. (RA & RASC) (and brother of Major Allen James Maule Parry, M.C. ). A slightly curved 34-inch single-fullered blade with GvR cypher, Royal Army Service Corps etching and "Blade by Wilkinson" etched on the spine. Brass proof disk with crown over "PROVED" (Wilkinson "contract" proof marking). 3-bar RA pattern hilt with chequered backstrap and pommel. Brown leather sword knot and brown leather field service scabbard with nickel-plated throat. Also with the brown leather sword bag with initials "R K M P". Condition is excellent overall.

The sale of these two swords together is accompanied with a few pages of related research, particularly pertaining to Major A. J. M. Parry of the 9th Parachute Regiment.
