Product Details

EL7113 - A very good early George V Wilkinson Royal Navy officer's sword, numbered 43054 (proved 29th May 1911 and sold as stock to Gieves). This is the post-1902 narrower blade type, but the sword features the expensive optional 'solid' guard, with no folding drop section, intended to be a stronger and more durable hand guard, and having a spring catch mounted on the scabbard to engage with the hole in the guard. The blade is bright, with crisp etching, firm in the hilt. The shark skin grip is clean and white, with all the grip wire in place, and the scabbard is in good condition for the age, with just minimal wear to the leather. A top of the line Royal Navy sword of the pre-WW1 era.
