Product Details

EL7265 - A very good Prussian M1811 'Blucher' sabre from the mid-19th century. Based on the imported British 1796 light cavalry sabres of the Napoleonic Wars, the Prussians beefed up the construction slightly and slightly changed small details of the scabbard, guard and grip. This model of sabre, gradually changing over time, remained in service for much of the rest of the 19th century. I believe this example dates to around 1830-1850. There are regimental markings on both guard and scabbard - I have not researched these - and not that they are matching numbers, so this sword and scabbard have been together since creation. The sword is in very good to excellent condition, with light patina to all metal parts, a smooth blade without pitting, firm in the hilt with no movement at all. The grip is in excellent condition for the age. It sheathes in the scabbard very well. A very good example of the pattern.
