EL6787 - Rare non-regulation Naval cutlass. Based on the 1845 pattern hilt, these rare straight-bladed variants must have either been made as an experiment, or as a special order for a specific ship or unit. They feature double-edged straight blades of 29.5 inches long, with the regulation 1845 pattern cutlass hilt, with iron guard and grip. They presumably date to around 1845-1860. This example carries no makers' marks and has been service sharpened repeatedly. The leather washer is intact and the hilt is rock solid on the tang. With dark patina and some pitting.
