EL7272 - A scarce Royal Navy Dockyard Battalion officer's sword, by Wilkinson. Being pre-numbered, and from the style of the etching, this dates to the early 1850s, before 1854. Featuring a very good condition blade, with most of the original mirror polish and crisp etching, firm in the hilt. The hilt also in very good to excellent condition, with all the shagreen and wire intact and housed in the correct original scabbard with parallel rings to the chape, which also carried Wilkinson's plaque. A fantastic example, from the best I have seen, and these are quite rare swords.
