Scarce 1821 Pattern Heavy Cavalry Officer's Sword
EL7278 - A scarce 1821 pattern heavy cavalry officer's sword, featuring a big 36 inch service-sharpened blade. The blade is bright and retains quite a sharp edge and point, but either due to polishing or because it was made that way there is no decorative etching (or maker) that I can see, so it could be dated anywhere between the 1820s and 1845. The large blade is straight and absolutely firm in the hilt, with no movement, and the washer is intact. The hilt is in very good condition, with light patina, the shagreen and wire all intact and all tight. Complete with the original scabbard, in which the sword seats perfectly, with a characteristically cupped throat. A great example of this pattern, which for some reason we don't see many of now.
