Product Details
EL7275 - A scarce hybrid pattern East India Company Navy officer's sword, circa 1845. I have seen only a handful of these over the years, and the blade is a cross between the earlier pipeback blade, with Prosser-type quill point, and the Wilkinson fullered blade that replaced it (in 1845 in the Army and 1846 in the Navy). Coupled with the lack of proof disc, that places this sword at around 1845/46 in date. The East India Company lion is clear on the guard cypher, and the same lion is also evidence on both sides of the blade etching, although very faint due to polishing. The blade is bright and clean, but the etching is faint. There is a bit of wiggle in the hilt assembly. No maker or retailer evident. Complete in original scabbard.
