Product Details

EL6985 - An interesting late-Victorian 1897 pattern infantry officer's sword. Carrying the Wilkinson trade blade proof disc, this sword was made by Wilkinson between 1897 and 1901 for a retailer to stock. It has an un-etched plain blade, of narrower than usual proportions, but not narrow enough to be classed as piquet weight in my opinion. The plated guard carries the VR cypher and the whole hilt is in good condition, though the wire is a bit scrappy in places. The blade is firm in the hilt, with no movement. The blade seems to have been service sharpened. The black sword knot is rather unusual and I do not know if it's original to the sword. The scabbard showing its age, but complete.
