EL7021 - A good Victorian 1897 pattern infantry officer's sword (dating to 1897-1901), in an unusual field service scabbard. The sword retailed by Harris of London, but I cannot identify the maker (probably German import or Birmingham). The bright blade with good, deep etching, of a high standard. The blade firm in the hilt. The hilt bright with detailed VR cypher, good shagreen to the grip, and the thickest of the wires remaining. The scabbard is leather, with interesting plated steel mounts, perhaps for colonial service.
