Product Details

ELC1092 - A scarce Bombay Light Cavalry officer's sword. Of smaller proportions than average, with a 32 inch blade, etched with the Bombay Light Cavalry name and East India Company lion emblem to one side and the VR cypher on the other, dating this to 1837-1845. The blade is mostly bright, but with areas of patina and light corrosion as pictured. There is some movement in the hilt, due to the loss of the leather washer, so that the guard and the grip wiggle a little, though they are securely held on the tang by the peen button. This wiggle could be remedied with the insertion of a new leather washer and/or a wedge. The shagreen and wire of the grip is in good condition, and the sword is complete with its original scabbard.
