Product Details

EL6987 - A mid-Victorian Royal Scots Fusilier's Highland officer's sword, circa 1880, featuring the cross-hilt and a narrow 'claymore' blade of regulation length (32.5 inches). The blade with patina, but good deep etching, the hilt with matching patina, the wire gone from the grip and the shagreen has lifted slightly at one point (see photos). The hilt unscrews thanks to the nut at the end of the tang, to allow the fitting of a full dress basket hilt originally. This makes restoration easier, and while there is a little bit of movement in the hilt, this should be able to be rectified with a new leather washer. Complete with original and correct scabbard, with the ball end drag.
