Product Details

EL7166 - A late-Victorian Grenadier Guards officer's sword by Wilkinson, numbered 28914 for 25th September 1888. Unfortunately there is no name against this sword in the Wilkinson proof book, but the blade has been service sharpened (Boer War?), so it might be possible to narrow down possible officers by looking at who commissioned in late 1888 into the Grenadier Guards and also served in the Boer War. For example, it could be Godfrey Clement Walker Heneage, but we cannot be certain. It is also worth noting that this sword has an 1895 style back piece, so the hilt was apparently replaced or repaired after 1895, despite the blade being from 1888. The blade is in very good condition, bright and with deep etching. The hilt is also in good condition and everything is solid with no movement. Sadly there is no scabbard.
