Product Details

EL7337 - A Royal Artillery officer's sword by Wilkinson (numbered 21825 for June 1877) with the officer's family crest and motto etched on the blade. Unfortunately no name is recorded on the Wilkinson record, but the crest of an arm and hand grasping a lance, with the motto "Press Through" seems to be associated with the surname Young or perhaps Cockburn. Keith Ogilvy Baird Young did commission into the Royal Artillery in January 1877, so he is one possibility. The sword is in average condition, having a bright clean blade, with mostly good etching, but a few bits of pitting. The hilt is in generally good condition, and firm on the tang, but note that the tang button has been replaced, and while the hilt construction is tight, the tightening has created a bit of bowing in the back piece, but not too bad. I have priced the sword accordingly. Complete with scabbard.
